2025 - Early March
Happy Spring!
Have you been patiently waiting to get back into your garden?
Have you been:
Reading and re-reading gardening books, magazines, catalogues, blogs and watching videos telling yourself that you will learn at least one new trick this year?
Composting every single piece of fruit and vegetable waste, paper bag and corrougated box because they make your garden thrive?
Talking to your garden buddies, sharing plans, bouncing ideas off each other and getting advice so that you can cheer each other on?
Salivating as you drive past garden stores waiting for them to put their inventory outside?
Itching for a sunny 45 degree day to start preparing your garden?
Moving around your mulch and compost to look for your perennial herbs, flowers and bulbs peaking up through the dirt? And every time you see one, do you break out into song & dance and don’t care who sees you do it?
Watching the birds pick at the soil looking for worms and secretly hoping that they don’t find any because you want them to stay in your garden?
Let’s face it, we are all just waiting as patiently as we can and are keeping our hands busy so that we don’t re-clean our garden tools.
I have to admit that patience is not always one of my virtues. I am really more like a kid waiting for Christmas. Instead of making a Christmas list, I have been making a lot of lists of new things I want to plant, new tools and gadgets I need and ways I can expand the garden without asking for help. I have been sorting through my seed packets, cleaning my greenhouse, organizing my tools and anything else I can think about doing just to be close to my garden.
And ta-da, Spring has sprung!
Join me in my garden journey. I hope this year’s blog brings you laughter, joy, maybe some tips, and maybe even some inspiration. Gardening is not a destination. It is a journey and you need to enjoy the journey. Gardening is good for your soul. Spring is a season of beauty and re-birth. I hope you open your mind and spirit to the possibilities you can create in your garden with your own hands. I hope your garden endeavors not only bring you a bountiful harvest, but also helps you re-kindle friendships and make new friendships as people chat with you at your garden.
Remember that the 1st thing you need to plant are two chairs so that your friends can find peace with you in your garden. As always, I will have drinks and snacks because there is always time to visit in the garden. And sit inside the garden by yourself, maybe with coffee or a Diet Mountain Dew :) You will notice things in your garden you haven’t seen before because you are sitting still and taking it all in with your eyes.
The one thing God isn’t making more of is dirt. So use every inch of dirt you can and bask in the goodness it brings.
